Climate Change Exposure
The southernmost provinces of Almaty, Zhambyl and Turkwestan, but also West Kazakhstan, Atyrau and Manggustau, are those most exposed to climate change. Heat share of extreme precipitation and for the southern part of the country the increased drought are the most important impact. Northeastern Kazakhstan will experience an increase of precipitation and decrease of drought. The mountainous areas can expect increase of precipitation, but this positive impact is mainly reduced by the increase of heavy precipitation. The advantage of the longer growing season is for central Kazakhstan reduced by the increase of frost nights.
