Climate Change Related Geographic Exposure
Based on the water stress (percentage of available water sources used) and the drought risk (also including population and drought frequency) Mary and Dashoguz provinces have the highest sensitivity. The soil cover has, in general, increased over the last 20 years. But large areas spread over the provinces indicate a trend in land degradation, especially in Balkan, Mary and Lebap provinces. Combining the land productivity with the changes in soil moisture indicates a trend in human-induced land degradation, especially in Mary Province and some in Lebap Province.
